What is Wansar Community Development

Wansar Community Development is a collaboration program conducted by Pohon Sagoe Maluku Foundation with  SDN 16 Fena Leisela and Inspiring Development.  This program is supported by Community Solutions Program US through Community Collaboration Impact Grant given to 2 CSP Program alumni Mega Pattiasina and Dorisco Kainama.

We Are At Wansar

Wansar is a traditional village located in the mountains of Buru Regency. The hamlet, situated about 80 km from the center of Namlea District, can only be reached by motorcycle from its parent village, Wamana Baru, with a journey time of approximately 3 hours. With motorcycles, the team had to pass through a red clay road, cross several rivers (as there were no bridges), and navigate steep rocky paths. Fortunately, the Wansar youth were accustomed to such challenging roads. When encountering steep and damaged roads, some team members had to get off and walk. This was because the Wansar youth who were driving the motorcycles at the time not only carried passengers but also a significant amount of supplies for the 6-day activities.

Upon arrival, the team was greeted with cakalele dance performances by the children and other dances performed by the youth and mothers. Heavy rain did not hinder them from welcoming their newly arrived brothers and sisters from Ambon. In addition to the dances, the team, consisting of members from the Pohon Sagoe Maluku Foundation and Inspiring Development, also enjoyed various Wansar agricultural products such as peanuts, fried cassava, fried bananas, and fried taro. The Wansar community is very open and eager to develop themselves. In this Wansar Community Development program, there were activities aimed at empowering the youth, providing training for teachers, and conducting creative classes for children focused on literacy, numeracy, creativity, and critical thinking for approximately 5-6 days, from July 2nd to July 7th, 2023.
